Threat to Sevenoaks Hospital

The below message has been received from the Chairman of the Sevenoaks Hospital League of Friends:

"You may have read in the local paper that the provision of Health Services at Sevenoaks Hospital is under threat. Over the past 9 months 27 out of a total of 47 beds have been closed and because of the deficit incurred by the West Kent Primary Care Trust all expenditure is now being reviewed.

We believe the provision of Health Care through Sevenoaks Hospital is vital for the well being of the people of Sevenoaks. Consequently we have arranged for a public meeting to be held on Thursday 6th July at the Community Centre at Bat and Ball - starting at 7.00 p.m. and concluding at 9.00 p.m. - which will provide the people of Sevenoaks with a forum for expressing their concerns.

I would be grateful if you could make your members aware of the opportunity to express any concerns they might have and to hear the latest developments."

Condition of the local Roads and the Park

The Chairman has written on several occasions over recent months to Robin Hales, the Chief Executive of Sevenoaks District Council, regarding the poor state of the local roads and pavements, verge maintenance, and a number of matters concerning the deteriorating condition of the Bradbourne Lakes Park. Whilst replies have been received, they have not fully answered the questions raised or exactly inspired confidence as to whether these problems will be sorted out in the foreseeable future. Under the circumstances your Committee is seriously considering a formal complaint to the Local Government Ombudsman.
